Established in 1946, Richard M. Pugh began a general law practice to serve Northeast Kansas residents in Wamego, Kansas. At that time, attorneys frequently wrote title opinions and handled real estate transactions. Title insurance was still a relatively new field and lacked the popularity of today. Edward W. Pugh joined his father’s practice in 1975 and continued handling real estate transactions in much the same way Richard had. In the early 1980s, title insurance became the new industry standard. Wamego Title was created to serve the growing demands of buyers, sellers and banks. In the spring of 1984, Wamego Title wrote its first title insurance policy on triplicate paper on an electric typewriter. Since this first policy was drafted, Wamego Title has continued to evolve as a trusted title insurance adviser for real estate professionals, bankers, buyers and sellers. Now, with the growth of the business and the area, Wamego Title is rebranding. In 2018 Wamego Title has changed to Tallgrass Title in order to expand our geographical reach to better serve our clients’ needs.

As Tallgrass Title enters the fourth decade of service to the area, the need to adapt to a fast-paced and increasingly regulated real estate world is ever present.
